CHAMISE

Adenostoma fasciculatum

Chamise is one of the most common shrubs of California's chaparral, and is incredibly important for that reason - not only does it provide valuable food and habitat for pollinators and beyond, the plant is easily flammable and has fire-adapted seeds, making it a crucial component of chaparral fire regimes. This member of the rose family is beautiful when planted in sunny locations in well-draining soil.
